Surviving are his wife of almost 72 years, Beatrice Worden; their children, Karene & Ronald Cooper of Sheridan, Connie & Gary Howes of Grand Rapids, and Thomas & Barbara Worden of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Shelly Reynolds, Tom Swindell, Amy Taft, Micah Swindell, Kim Simmons, Williams Howes, Ryan Worden; two step-grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Phebe Wilson of Sheridan; a sister-in-law, Sheila Block of Greenville; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with Pastor Betsy Kamphuis of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place privately at South Sidney Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions are available.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fountain View of Lowell for the kind and compassionate care Paul received as he made his journey with Alzheimers disease these past two years. His family takes great comfort in knowing that Paul would have said that the first 90 years were great he had a loving family, many friends, worked hard — yet enjoyed life.

    Dear Karene, Connie, Tom, and families, Laurie let us know about your dad’s passing. We send our deepest sympathies. We know how much you will miss him, since we also lost our dad this year. I remember talking with him and Aunt Bea at Fountain View, when he remembered who I was….and how they both would stop at dad’s room and visit about the old days, and family get togethers and farming. He was always kind and had a smile for everyone. I also have memories of visits to your farm….I can still picture it in my mind. Hold on to the good memories and share stories with your children. We will be praying for you and your families. I will try to stop and see Aunt Bea next time I am in Michigan. Sincerely, Carma & George Fingleton

    Dear Bea, Karene, Connie and Tom;
    We know it is sad to lose someone who has been in your heart like a husband/father.
    It seems that Paul and Bea were friends of my folks for all my life. I think of the cook outs the gang used to have on holidays, the card games they would get together and play and, of course, the DBS dances.
    Just wanted to let you know that Jane and I are thinking of you at this time.

    We are sorry to hear of Mr. Worden’s passing. He was a neat man and we enjoyed visiting with him and Mrs. Worden a few years ago, where he filled us up on peanut butter balls. We appreciate his willingness to rent his land to us. Thinking of your family during this time.
