Paul (Jake) Anthony Jakubowski, 51, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home with family. He was born September 29, 1958 in Binghamton, New York, the son of Alice Catherine (Wojcik) & Joseph A. Jakubowski, Sr., who preceded him in death. He was a disabled veteran of the U. S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Lynne (Riggins) Jakubowski of Battle Creek; their daughter, Emily of Battle Creek; brothers and sisters, Joseph (Anne Hogan) of Richland, Valorie Bringle of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kathleen (James Shanahan) of New York, Peter Jakubowski, and Michelle (George Seef); and eighteen beloved nieces and nephews.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Paul brought joy, mischief, humor and love to our lives. He enjoyed cooking — especially Polish recipes passed on from his Mother.

Paul graduated from Chittenango High School (New York) in 1976 and then enlisted in the military. Paul graduated in 1983 from Ferris State College where he earned a degree in Occupational Safety and Health. He met his dear wife Lynne in Big Rapids, Michigan while attending FSU and they were married April 20, 1985. Their beautiful daughter Emily was the light of his life… he adored her and they spent countless hours sharing his love for the out-of-doors. Her fishing and hunting skills were honed at an early age. Paul and his family were members of St. Jerome Church in Battle Creek for 20 years and recently became a member at St. Ann Parish of Richland.

Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gull Lake, with the Memorial Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church hall. Ceremonies will conclude with committal services and full military honors, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Great Lakes Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper Street, Jackson, Michigan 49202 (Memo: In memory of Paul Jake Jakubowski).
