Biography

Nancy Lee Cotton, age 81, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Rainbow Lake, in Perrinton, Michigan on September 17, 2012 following a 5 month illness. Nancy was born on February 19, 1931 to Glenn and Lila (Wilson) Titus and later married W. Eugene Cotton on June 21, 1952 in Jackson. Rev. Gene Cotton preceded her in death on April 26, 1995.

Nancy had been a school teacher at Fremont Public Schools for 22 years teaching in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade. Nancy spent her life being the most gracious and loving wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and ‘Grandma-Great’that anyone could be. She was a gentle soul who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending art shows, and ‘detouring and frolicking’ on road trips.

Nancy leaves behind their three children, Steve (Mary) Cotton of Grand Haven; Kim (Theron) Shinew of Perrinton, Michigan; and Kathy (Kendall) Scott of Dearborn; plus grandchildren: Christopher (Lydia) Cotton, Nicole Cotton, Alex Cotton, Teresa (Jeremy) Depew, Jennifer (Riley) Justis, and Heidi Scott; plus four great-grandchildren Anna & Clark Cotton, Erin Depew, and Sophie Justis. Nancy is also survived by her sister, Shirley Klepac of Cary, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with a time of visitation from 12pm until the time of the services at the funeral home with The Rev. Bob Kleinheksel presiding. Friends are asked to consider the Gene & Nancy Cotton Charitable Reserve Fund, c/o TrueNorth Community Services P O Box 149 Fremont, MI 49412 for memorial contributions in memory of Nancy.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
