Myrna Avery, age 80, of Spencer Township, passed away early Sunday morning, November 10, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Robert & Cora Ann (Morden) McAllister, she was born on February 2, 1939 in Big Rapids.
On August 15, 1981, in Kent City, she married Junior LeRoy Avery. Together they enjoyed nearly 29 years of marriage and had been members of the Family Life Center Church of God in Belding. Myrna loved the Lord and her family and was always ready to give a hug. She delighted in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wilbur "Buck" Salyer on January 29, 1981; an infant daughter, Janet Salyer; a son, Lenny Avery Sr.; a grandson, Derick Hershberger; and a great-grandson, Damien Joles.
Surviving are her children, Robin & Terry Kelsey of Cedar Springs, Debbie & Tim Thatcher of Newaygo, Carla & Bill Sharkey of Canadian Lakes, Rose & Bob Romine of Fremont, Rocky & Linda Salyer of Cedar Springs, Dawn & Nate Cooper of Cedar Springs; her step-children, Liz Avery of Maine, Melody & Bonnie Avery of New York, and Kathy Farrell of Greenville, a brother, Robert & Mary McCallister; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Avery-Barager; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of adopted grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and special friends.
Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pastor Ron Parsons of Courtland Mission Fellowship will officiate and burial will take place privately at Greene Cemetery near Orleans.

I meet you a few times growing up at some of the family gatherings. I remember that mom would be upset at me because I was upset that my brothers got to know you more that I did. I know they got to stay with you at different times while we was growing up. I remember you and uncle Buck on the chicken farm many years ago. I was upset that the last 2 times I came to Mich. That I missed you. You was very sweet to me .I remember one time my family came to visit on the farm you took me aside and I remember you gave me a real big hug and said I was gonna be alright. That memory has pulled me thu many hard times. You are missed dearly. -áSending Prayers to the family that God helps them thu this time. You are greatly Loved and Missed.
