Maxine E. Grimwood, age 90, of Carson City, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at The Laurels of Carson City.  The daughter of Clyde & Madge (Artnz) Ward, she was born on October 4, 1928 in Carson City.  Maxine was a devoted mother and after her children were grown, continued to care for others by working as an in-home caregiver for forty years.

She was a member of the Mt. Hope United Brethren Church in Carson City  where she had taught AWANA, enjoyed gardening, and delighted in feeding and watching the birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  a son in infancy;  two brothers, Keith Ward and Lyle Ward;  and two sons, Ronald Dale Grimwood and Terry Lynn Grimwood. 

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Robert Max (Judy) Grimwood, Jr., Ph.D. of Lansing, and Timothy (Cheryl)  Grimwoodof Crystal;  a daughter-in-law, Margaret (Monty) Bennett of Summerfield, Florida;  thirteen granchildren;  many great-grandchildren;  one great-great grandchild; and special friends, Monnie Hagerman, Sally Weaver, and Dave Patin and family.

Graveside committal services are at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Crystal Township Cemetery with her son, the Rev. Robert Max Grimwood, Jr., Ph.D. officiating.  Instead of flowers, Maxine would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the International Fellowship of Christians & Jews (www.ifcj.org).

    I have very fond memories of visiting with Maxine. She demonstrated her love for her Lord by her service and kindness to others.

    Maxine was a great woman!! She watched my siblings and I when we were younger and always treated us like family. I tried to get over to see her when I was in town but had lost track of her in recent years. I will always love her and be thankful for her love and kindness.
