Maurine Leona Carlson, 87, of Lowell, for-merly of Bass Lake, Gowen, died Monday, April 25, 2016, under the care of Hospice after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born to Bessie (Kecker) and Cecil Clark at Elmira, March 6,1929.

She graduated from Hulbert High School, Hulbert, on May 22, 1947. On the same day, she married Worth Sigfred Carlson at Hulbert. They started their married life in Lansing, where they raised their family, eventually retiring to Bass Lake.

Maurine loved to cook and bake and enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She always said, “If you leave here hungry, it’s your own fault.” She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and has left us all many afghans to keep us warm as well as sweaters, hats, slippers, scarves and mittens. Her love of these crafts helped to keep newborn infants in cute knitted caps and helped fill mitten trees in Greenville at Christmas time.

Maurine was preceded in death by her husband, Worth, in 2004, as well as an infant son, Jimmy Carlson. She was also preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters (Delmer, Cecil, Elwin, Melvin, Donald Roy, Lloyd, Bertha (Mc Kenzie), Marion (Kabelman), and Shirley (Green), whom she held close in memory and spoke of often.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Maurine ( Wayne) May of Crossville, Tenn., Jody Lynn (Chuck Jr.) Laper of Gaylord; her granddaughters, Kaitlin Irish- Grate ( Bryan Grate) of St. Charles, Mo., and Shannon (Ryan) La of Greenville; and her infant great-granddaughter, Mollie Grace Grate. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Frannie Clark of Paradise, and Dee Carlson of Lansing, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, as well as longtime neighbors and friends from Bass Lake that became her extended family.

At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service and interment of both Maurine and Worth, will take place at a later date in Hulbert.
