Mary Louise Rich, age 83, of Greenville, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2019 at Golden Life Adult Foster Care Home.  The daughter of Lewis & Alice (Clausen) Branton, she was born on December 29, 1935 in Ionia.  

On Sept. 26, 1958, at the Clear Lake United Brethren Church, she married Orris Terry Rich and together they raised two children, enjoyed 47 years of marriage, and over the years had attended the First Baptist Church of Greenville, as well as Shiloh Community Church.  More recently, Mary attended Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, Orris Rich, on January 20, 2006;  a sister, Eleanor Shaeffer;  and a brother, Bill Branton.

Surviving are her two children, Brenda & Jim Thompson of Greenville, and Gary & Tracy Rich of Belding; four grandchildren, Eric & Hailey Rich, Jessica & Jose Campos, James M. & Kassy Thompson II, and Marcus Rich; six great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Peverill, Alexis Thompson, Livia Thompson, Hazel Thompson, Oakleigh Rich, and Mateo Campos, with a seventh great-grandchild, Thea Louise Thompson, expected in February;  a brother,  Don Branton of Texas;  and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth Street, Orleans, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.  The Rev. Ken Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and a luncheon will follow the ceremony.  Burial will take place privately at Woodard Lake Cemetery.  Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Mary to either Kindred Hospice or to your favorite church.

    she was a great person and a great nana. i remember when was little she used to make me her special grilled sandwich for lunch. she used to make me laugh when i was feeling down it didn’t matter how i was feeling she could cheer me up. she was the best great grandma a kid could ask for – Kaitlyn Peverill ( her oldest great grand daughter)
