Mr. Marvin Hansen Witham, age 73, of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 17, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The son of Simon & Wynona (King) Witham, he was born on Feb. 8, 1933 in Greenville.

On June 16, 1951, in Belding, he married Karla J. Barber. Together, they made their home in Greenville and raised three daughters. Marvin worked for almost 41 1/2 years at Extruded Metals and Extruded Aluminum in Belding. He delighted in flying, having worked towards his private pilots license, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Barber and Carl L. Barber. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Karla Witham of Greenville; their daughters, Sharon Page of Mecosta, Janet & Dean Scholten of Sheridan, and Terri Witham of Sheridan; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Marvel Bissell, Sandy Jagnow, Joanne & Bill Hankinson, Ike & Jenny VanHorn, and Joyce Edwards-Barber; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Visitation with the family is from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions to either the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society will be available.
