Martha Beaderstadt, age 93, of Clifford Lake, Stanton, passed away Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010 at her home under the loving care of her family and InHouse Hospice after a short illness.

The only daughter of Joseph & Matilda (Starman) VanCura, she was born on July 7, 1917 in Necedah, Wisconsin. The family moved soon to Chicago, and then to Grand Haven, Michigan where she attended school.

During World War II, she worked in defense facilities in Grand Haven, Muskegon, and Chicago. On October 13, 1945 she married Theodore R. Beaderstadt. They made their home in Lansing, Michigan until his retirement from Fisher Body when they moved to Clifford Lake in 1976.

Martha was known for her garden, and until she got sick in April, was still working with her flowers and strawberries. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Stanton and was a Lutheran.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, on January 30, 2009; by her parents; four brothers; and an infant son, James. Surviving are two sons, Ted Jr. (Kathy) Beaderstadt of Saugatuck, and the Rev. Jan (Barbara) of Beaderstadt of Turner and Senerganti Mission, Bangladesh; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Amble Memorial Sanctuary at South Sidney Cemetery, 5501 W. Muskrat Road, Sidney, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.

Ceremonies will be officiated by her son, the Rev. Jan L. Beaderstadt, along with the Rev. Carl Q. Litchfield of Bellaire, and Bernice Deno Sorrels, Assistant in Ministry of Faith Lutheran Church of Sidney. Burial will follow in South Sidney Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Renaissance Outreach Ministries for the purpose of building a garden in Bangladesh in Marthas memory. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Martha and Ted were part of our regulars at Meijer in Greenville,Mi. We all gathered there for breakfast and morning conversation. I said I went there for friendship and my morning wisdom . Martha was sharp as a tack. I will miss her along with her husband Ted. I also miss Harold Lehman (my dad) ( Helen ) my mom. It is a great group there at Meijer and we all shared our love and grief. Love and prayers . Vicki Lehman Nielsen
