Her work career included Fred’s Trading Post, Westinghouse and babysitting for neighbors, friends and family. She enjoyed relaxing around the pool with her husband, watching the Lions play football on TV, trips with Doug to Las Vegas, collecting turtle figurines and porcelain dolls and reading. She also crocheted probably over 500 hats and mittens for the Santa Clause girls. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and doing ALL the preparation for family gatherings. Endearingly referred to as “Honey”, by her husband, she was given the name of “Honey-Great” by her first great grandchild, Anthony, and the name continued with every great-grandchild thereafter. Marilyn was very believing in her faith and read her Bible passages every day. In fact, she had read the complete Bible over 20 times in her lifetime.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 23, 2016 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3152 Clyde Park SW, with an hour visitation prior to service with Pastor Lee Welker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a memorial contribution to Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
