Margaret J. “Marge” Gamble, age 92, of Westland, passed away late Monday evening, September 15, 2014 at Twin Oaks Retirement Home near Gowen.

The daughter of Valentine and Julia Jenders, she was born on December 20, 1921 in Marche’, Arkansas and grew up in West Dearborn, Michigan, along with brothers Steve and Willie, and sisters Bertha and Fran.

A graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn, she married Carlyle B. Gamble in 1942 and they settled in Dearborn Heights where she raised a family of five children. In the early years of marriage, she took care of the children while Carlyle served in the Navy during World War II. When four of the children left home to start their own lives, she, Carlyle and their youngest child moved to Westland were she spent the remainder of her life until going to a retirement home in 2012.

Marge worked for many years at Sears in Lincoln Park, where she prided herself on her sales ability and was often the top salesperson in her department. She loved country western music and loved to dance. She took great care to be fashionable and loved to dress herself up with glitter and jewelry. She was proud of her children and spent much time and effort in their grooming when they were young in spite of a very limited budget.

Her parents; her husband; and two brothers preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Julie & Richard Ross of Gowen, Richard & Stephanie Gamble of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Silvia Jessing of Westland, Elaine Gamble of Westland, and Carl & Marilyn Gamble of Roseville, California; plus ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was loved by many, including her caregivers, and will be greatly missed.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be beside her husband at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date for family and friends in Brownstown. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Marge’s online guestbook, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www.ChristiansenCares.com Arrangements were entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.

My condolences are with the family and friends as you grieve for Margaret. At such times of sorrow we may ask, “Will I ever see or embrace my loved one again?” Jesus answers at John 11:11-44 saying: “Lazarus! Come on out!” And he did.
Patiently waiting for all those in the memorial tombs to hear Jesus’ voice and come on out. May we all be there to welcome all those sleeping in death back to an earth that God originally promised. – Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:29; Revelation 21:3-5; Isaiah 65:21-23

    Sincerely,

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. So glad that I got to visit her recently. Years ago I use to enjoy when I would see her at Sears and we would catch each other up on all the family news on both sides.
