Marcia (McWethy) Wildey, 73, passed away Thursday, December 11th, after a long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Daughter of the late Jean and Arthur McWethy, she is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald Wildey; stepchildren Barry, Cheryl, (the late Mike Wildey’s wife) Barbara and their children Mike and April Wildey; and step-grandchildren Jordan Wildey and Jenn (and James) Palm and their son Jackson; in-laws Walter and Shirley DeBoer, all of the greater Grand Rapids area, and sister Myrna Nickel and nephews Scott and Dale Nickel of Connecticut.
Ms. Wildey, a graduate of Alma College, taught for 31 years at Newhall Jr. High in Wyoming. A lover of almost all sports, she belonged to a league of invitation-only premier women bowlers of Kent County during the ‘60s and ‘70s, and was a member of both the Grand Rapids Symphonic Choir and the Plymouth UCC Church choir for many years.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at the Plymouth UCC Church, 4010 Kalamazoo Avenue, on Saturday, December 20th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marcia’s memory to either the Plymouth UCC Choir Fund, 4010 Kalamazoo Avenue, or to Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 4500 Breton, both in Grand Rapids 49508, would be appreciated.
