Loretta D. Johnson, age 91, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, June 15, 2018 at The Laurels of Kent in Lowell.  The daughter of William & Esther (Ayers) Taylor, she was born on July 22, 1926 in Traverse City. 

On October 12, 1947, in Traverse City, she married DeVitte J. Johnson and together they raised two children, celebrated 55 years of marriage, and enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and camping.  Loretta was a skilled seamstress, and enjoyed embroidery, needlework, and other handicrafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband, DeVitte "De" Johnson, on March 23, 2003;  several brothers and sisters; a daughter-in-law, Diane Johnson;  and a grandson, Timothy J. Fancett.  Surviving are a son, Al Johnson of Freeport;  a daughter, Nina Wallace & Randy Chipman of Fenwick;  four grandchildren, Courtney & Matthew Duffy, Stacy & Lonnie Jackson, Tiffany & David Court, and Valerie & Josh Matzen;  fourteen great grandchildren;  two great-great grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.  Loretta's nephew, Jerry Essex, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Grand Rapids.  Envelopes for memorial contributions to Great Lakes Caring & Hospice will be available at the funeral home.
