Mrs. Lois (Cote) Eppinga, 84, of Grand Rapids, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, on Saturday evening, December 22, 2012 from Clark Retirement Home in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Hector and Sara Edith (Wade) Cote, she was born on June 29, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan.

After many years working in the Emergency Room as a nurse, she retired from Metropolitan Hospital in 1988. In retirement, she was an active volunteer with the Christian Reformed Worldwide Relief Committee (CRWRC) and Joni’s Friends. She was also an active member of Calvary Church.

Surviving are her two children, David (Amanda) Eppinga, and Sally (Kip) Higgins; two granddaughters, Lauren and Kelly Higgins; a brother, Russell Cote; a brother-in-law, Joe (Norma) Eppinga; a sister-in-law, Margaret Clark; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eppinga; her sister, Lucille Cote; and her brother, William Cote.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 3, 2013 at the chapel of Calvary Church, 707 East Beltline N.E., Grand Rapids, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10-11 a.m. Private interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Salvation Army.
