Mrs. Linda Lee Doty, age 57, of Gowen, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 18, 2007 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with acute leukemia. The daughter of Booner & Gerri (Powers) Bissell, she was born on Dec. 26, 1949 in Greenville. A 1968 graduate of Greenville High School, Linda also earned her medical assistant’s certificate. She had worked for Dr. Jody Hamblin, as well as cooking at the Greenville American Legion. On Oct. 22, 2005, at the First Congregational Church in Greenville, she married Michael Ray Doty.

Linda enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, and golfing, but delighted in hitting a jackpot at the Soaring Eagle casino. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101, and also R.A.V.E.

She was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Paul Allen, Sr. on Nov. 16, 1998. Surviving are her husband, Mike Doty of Gowen; two sons, Lonnie Allen of Grand Rapids, and David & Tara Allen of Belding; her former daughter-in-law, Jeri Kay Lake of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Mista Kay Allen and Johnny Paul “J.P.” Allen, Jr., and Hailey Ruth Allen; her parents, Booner & Gerri Bissell of Greenville; a sister, Judy Bissell of Grand Rapids; two brothers and a sisters-in-law, Randy Bissell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Danny & Brenda Bissell of Greenville, and Sandy Bissell of Greenville; her mother-in-law, Betty Jean Doty of Greenville; four step-children, Susan & Jim Ottobre of Greenville, Brent Doty of Sheridan, Michelle & Donny Deal of Sheridan, and Lisa Doty of Greenville; eight step-grandchildren, Josh and Jason Ottobre, Alex and Brandon Doty, Jasmine and Alexandra Deal, and Jasen and Branden Campbell; siblings-in-law, Byron & MaryAnn Doty of DeWitt, Monte & Ellen Doty of Edmore, Brenda & Gerry Chapin of Belding, and RaeLynn & Gary Engle of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at the First Congregational Church, corner of Cass and Clay streets, downtown Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Honoring Linda’s wishes, cremation has already taken place.
