Leroy Frank Lavallee, age 59, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2010 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The son of Frank & Ruby (Henry) Lavallee, he was born on June 15, 1951 in Greenville.

For most of his life Leroy worked as a mechanic at various farm equipment dealers including McCormicks Equipment, Snyders Case/Alto Farm Center, Hydes Equipment, and Bruce Christensen Farms. On August 3, 1996, at his home in Sidney, he married the former Anne Marie Weaver. A dedicated family man, Leroy found his greatest joy in time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and nephews. He also enjoyed International Harvester tractors, collecting Cub Cadets, and wrenching on anything mechanical.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Lavallee of Sidney; a daughter, Holly DeMott and Scott Vauter of Fenton; his sons, Adam & Candy Lavallee of Sheridan, William & Eileen Hodges of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Derek DeMott of Flint, and Kyle DeMott of Stanton; his grandchildren, Daniel Lavallee, Seth Lavallee, Gage Leroy Lavallee, Trinity Vauter, and Makayla DeMott; a sister, Laura & Mike Griffin of Belding; and a special nephew, Nathan & Tashia Lavallee of Saranac.

Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and a private family viewing was held Thursday afternoon at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville. Instead of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

My fondest childhood memories involve time spend with Leroy at his house with my brother Adam. I knew him and his family since I was 5 years old, before my mom married Leroy. He was like a second father to me and I will deeply miss him. Though my heart is breaking it goes out to Adam, Candi, & the boys; as well as Lori & the rest of the family.

Life will be different without you here. I will miss the way you loved the kids and the joy they brought to your face. Ceagan always loved his tractor rides and was becoming very fond your backhoe. I know he got his love for farm equipment from you. You were always there for us, to guide us, love us and show us the simplist ways to conquor life. You were a simple man filled with honesty. I only had you in my life for a short time but know in my heart you will be here forever. There are no words that can explain the way you touched my life. You may not be here to guide us anymore but when I need your help I will be able to think of what you might have or would have said. I could ramble on forever about you but will end this now. I know when you left that you knew I loved you! May you rest in peace and until we meet again you will forever have a golden spot in my heart. The light of you will shine through in what we do. Love you forever and miss you already~ Tashia
