Mr. Lawrence Nuyen, Jr., age 82, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home in Schoolcraft. The son of Lelah & Lawrence Nuyen, Sr., he was born on December 18, 1926.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Lawrence owned Precision Engineering Inc. from 1963 until his retirement. His fun in life came from baseball playing in the minor leagues and coaching the South Portage senior little league team of 1969 to state championship.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Faye (Bell) Nuyen, and their 7 children: Larry (Kim), Mark, William, and Eric Nuyen, Lynn (Dan) Gantos, Cindi Posthumus, and Sue (Ben) Algaze; 12 grandchildren: Danielle and Lisa Gantos, Eric, Ryan and Scott Posthumus, Kristin, Jeff, Lyndsay, Erica, and Emily Nuyen, Daniel and Alyssa Algaze; sisters, Betty Strong, Mary Lou (Mal) Pearson, and Yvonne (Stan) Veldt; brother-in-laws: Don (Ila) Vanderkolk; Eugene (LaWanda) Bell; sister-in-law Mary Lou Nuyen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Nuyen, Esther Vanderkolk; a brother, Joseph Nuyen; and siblings-in-law, Bud (Marlene) Bell and Merl Strong.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
