Lawrence E. Larry Lyons, Sr., age 78, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, May 15, 2008 at Metron of Greenville, surrounded by his family. The son of Frank & Elizabeth (McCormick) Lyons, he was born on July 11, 1929 in Belding, Michigan. As a proud American, he served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and was an avid bowlerparticipating in the Gibson Bowling League for several years. Larry was a retiree of the former Electrolux Company, retiring most recently in 1990 after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, and mother of his children, Eva M. (Wireman) Lyons; a daughter, Kathy Roberts in 2006; and siblings, Katherine Brugle and Mary Grosvner.
Surviving are his children, Larry & Deb Lyons of Greenville, Elizabeth Lyons of White Cloud, Thomas & Sally Lyons of Stanton, Diane & Mike Kauffman of Sheridan, Joy & Ed Gross of Wapakoneta, Ohio, John & Louise Lyons of Belding, Brenda Shaw of Grand Rapids, and Joella & Larry Earl of Belding; several grandchildren; many great-grand children; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Ken Harger, pastor of the Shiloh Community Church, will officiate. Visitation is Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions will be available.
