Larry Gene "Bud" McDaniel, age 71, of Stanton, passed away at home on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2017. The son of Wesley & Pauline (Gender) McDaniel, he was born January 11, 1946 in Greenville. After graduating from Greenville High School in 1964, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later made his home in Georgia where he worked as a tool and die maker and in the spring of 1989 he married the former Sharon Colleen Quillan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his loving wife, Sharon McDaniel; and a brother, Barry McDaniel. Surviving are his children, Tracy & Alex Zavala of Cedar Springs, Laurie McDaniel of Newaygo, Machelle McDaniel of Baldwin, and Monte McDaniel of Grove City, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sue & Robert Lake, and Diane Fountain, all of Greenville; special nieces, Tammie McDaniel, Rachel Olmstead, Rebecca McDaniel, and Amanda McDaniel; twenty-six grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Robert "Tiger" Minion; his loyal companion, Bucky; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Larry's life from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with a time of sharing beginning at 11:15 a.m. Military honors, rendered by the Ray I. Booth American Legion Honor Guard will conclude the ceremonies.
Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to either the Wounded Warriors Fund, Belding Veterans Memorial, or the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Burial will take place privately in the spring at Spencer Mills Cemetery.
