Mr. Kevin R. McNee, age 47, of Belding, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2006 in the emergency room of Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The son of Richard B. & Ruthe L. (Straw) McNee, he was born on June 30, 1958 in Grand Rapids.
Kevin had retired from Baker Furniture in Grand Rapids, was writing his first novel, and enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. On Jan. 31, 1979, in Grand Rapids, he married Shirell Diane Sherry LeFevre. A devoted husband and father, he was very supportive of his wife in her financial planning business, Cardinal Rule, where she works with their daughter Niki… with occasional help from grandson Dom. Kevin was especially proud of his sons service to our country.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry McNee of Belding; a daughter, Niki McNee and Andy Lester of Grand Rapids; a son, Spec. Clayton McNee, currently serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Detrick, Maryland; two precious grandsons, Dominick Gage and Ashton John Lester-McNee; his parents, Richard & Ruthe McNee of Irons; two sisters, Cynthia (Joe) Kessenich of Ada, and Carol (Rick) Post of Saranac; a brother, Brian (Tami) McNee of Belding; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Honoring Kevins wishes, a traditional Scottish wake will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 at the McNee home, 5005 Zahm Road, Belding (two miles south of the Wesco station). As requested, cremation has already taken place.
