Kathryn Day-Murray, passed away on November 30, 2010. A Spring Lake resident and Grand Haven business owner and art advocate, Day-Murray was a graduate of Kendall School of Design and was owner of Day-Murray Design. She was very active in her community and served as a Parent Aide in Art Appreciation in Grand Rapids.

Day-Murray was a lecturer for the Women’s Resource Center and proudly served as a docent for the Meyer May/Frank Lloyd Wright house in Grand Rapids. She also chaired the Historic Commission of Grand Haven and was an advocate for historic preservation. Day-Murray also served seven years on the Tri-County Museum Board.

A Corporate Designer at Foremost Insurance, Kathryn was recognized nationally in 1992 Who’s Who of Interior Designers. Her last corporate design project was Priority Health in Grand Rapids. Day-Murray was owner and proprietor until her death of the Stock Exchange, an upscale furniture resale boutique in Grand Haven.

Kathryn was a loving Mother, Grandmother and friend. Her beloved husband Calvin J. Murray preceded her in death.

She is survived by three strong and wonderful daughters, Melody (Alvin) Kooiker of Allandale, Cher (Terry) Brown of Saint Augustine, FL, and Rachelle (Donald) Heyl of Lititz, PA; step-daughters, Pamela Murray of Atlanta, GA, Molly Murray (Gary Koets) of Grand Rapids, and Julie (Geoff) Hawksworth of Grand Rapids; stepson, Daniel (Coral) Murray of Schaumburg, IL; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildrenl; brothers and sisters, Margaret (Trent) Lattimer, Marilyn (Herbert) Kreppel, Richard VanSyckel, Donald (Molly) VanSyckel and Albert O. VanSyckel; and many dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating Kathryn’s life with beloved family and friends will be held December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at C3 Exchange, 225 East Exchange Street, Spring Lake.
