June Grace (Cooper) Smith, age 92, of Carson City, passed away peacefully at her son Gregg and Torey's home, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. She was born April 16, 1927, in St. Johns, Michigan, to the late Hollis and Louise (Rhynard) Cooper. June married Herbert Dale Smith on October 3, 1953, in Middleton, MI. They celebrated 46 years together, before Dale passed away in June of 2000.
June was a medical office administrator for over 35 years for multiple surgeons and doctors in the Carson City area. She was an avid reader and like to do word searches, crochet, and sew. From a young girl she had the value of hard work instilled in her growing up on the farm. June will be remembered for her kindness and baking; you would never leave her house without a full belly. Above all else June loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children, Dave (Karen), Gregg (Torey), Brian, and Jackie Smith; grandchildren, Kristine Smith, Jeremie (Mindi) Smith, Denise (Sean) Potter, Holly (Jereme) Akin, Stephany (Jeremy) Anderson, and Nicole (Kyle) Cashen; many great-grandchildren; brother, Dee (Bonnie) Cooper; brother-in-law, Richard Abbott; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents; daughter-in-law, Brenda Smith; and siblings, Jean (Martin) Richards, Dennis Cooper, and Janet Abbott.
Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday with the Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
