Julie passed away peacefully on November 10, 2017 at Spectrum Health Butterworth at the age of 57. She was born on October 4, 1960 in Saginaw, Michigan to Kathryn (Moss) Baumgarten and the late Albert Baumgarten III.

She graduated from St. Stephen High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Post-graduation, Julie moved to Chicago, where she owned and operated a successful computer consulting business. Following the sale of her business, she relocated to the Douglas/Grand Rapids area and began working in the real estate industry.

Throughout her life, Julie selflessly cared for others and greeted everyone with her big, warm smile. She enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage in Point Lookout, where she made many lifelong friendships. Above all, Julie loved being the mother of her beautiful children, Brandon and Briana Barker. Surviving with her children are her mother, Kathryn Baumgarten, of Bay City; brother, Michael (Terri) Baumgarten, of Boyne City; sister, Mary Baumgarten, of Bay City; nieces and nephews, Mike, Nick, Aaron, Alyssa, and Jaclyn. Also surviving is Brandon and Briana’s father, David Barker. Julie was preceded in death by her father Albert Baumgarten III and brother Patrick Baumgarten.
