Joseph H. Stambolija, 83, passed away Monday, July 1st, 2019 at home under the care of Emmanuel Hospice, with his family at his side.
The son of Vasol Stambolija and William & Marie Coppock, he was born September 7, 1935 in Gary, Indiana. In the fall of 1955 Joseph wed Cecilia Kasperek, and together they raised 3 children. Joseph retired from US Steel Works in Gary, IN after 32 years of service. He was an active member within the Knights of Columbus and was 4th degree in his catholic faith. He had a passion for singing which he was able to serve his church with for many years in the choir. 
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana M. Stambolija; brother, George Stambolija; sisters, Dorothy Charles, and Rose Pulford; and nephews, George and Mike Stambolija. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Cecilia L. (Kasperek) Stambolija; children, Joseph W. & Beth Stambolija of Wayland, Debra L. Stambolija of Wayland; grandchildren, Adam Stambolija, and Eric Stambolija both of Tulalip, Washington, Atty. Julie & Andrew Weller of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Andrew Stambolija & Amberliz Schwartz of Middleville; great-granddaughter, Ariana Stambolija of Tulalip, Washington; nieces and nephews; Vic Pulford (Claris) and Michele Korpal, Janice Charles, David Charles, Karen Rybacki, David Stambolija, and Korkey Stambolija; along with many other family and friends.
Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M., Monday July 15th, 2019 at St. Therese Church, 128 Cedar Street, Wayland, 49348, with Catholic Service Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. The family invites you to join them in a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service at the local VFW, 735 S Main St. Wayland, 49348.
