Jewel Delores Buck, age 85, of Edmore, passed away Saturday evening, April 18, 2015 under the loving care of her family and Hospice.  The daughter of Ammi & Edna Mae (Booth) Pierce, she was born on January 16, 1930 and graduated high school from Cedar Lake Academy.  On June 25, 1950, in Mio, she married Cecil Montrose Buck and together they raised four children and enjoyed over 62 years of marriage. 

Jewel also worked outside the home, obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate from Montcalm Community College and her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Ferris State College.  She was a registered nurse at Tri-County Community Hospital in Edmore until it closed and retired from Sheridan Community Hospital in 1995.

She attended Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church, was a member of Cedar Lake Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and enjoyed crocheting afghans and working crossword puzzles and word searches.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  and her husband, Cecil Buck on January 23, 2013.  Surviving are her children, Stephany "Stevie" & Art Barron of Brimley, Cheila & Larry Halsey of Edmore, Tracy & Linda Buck of Lake City, Florida, and Kevin Buck & Linda Anderson of Edmore;  twelve grandchildren;  eighteen great grandchildren (with the nineteenth on the way);  three great-great grandchildren;  brothers and sisters, Rohn & Mary Pierce of Lansing, Ramona Snively, Juanita & Richard Retzloff, and Audley & Kaye Pierce, all of Edmore;  a long-time family friend, Jane Anderson-Beach of Edmore;  and many nieces, nephews, and other dear friends.

Visitation is Wednesday from 2-3:30 p.m. at Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church,  977 Neff Road, Stanton, where funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  The Rev. Ralph Williams will officiate and committal services will follow at Cedar Lake Cemetery.  Instead of flowers, Jewel would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  Envelopes will be available at the church.

Jewel was a rare and wonderful personGÇöwith friends across a wide spectrum of ages and interests. I was blessed to be one of those friends. She leaves a powerful model for usGÇöin her love of learning, her faith, her ability to celebrate everyday moments, her attention to people more than things, and her kindness, caring and compassion. She will be missed by many including me.
