Mr. Jerald R. Jerry Bower, Sr., age 76, of rural Greenville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 27, 2006 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. The son of John & Marjorie (Huff) Bower, he was born on April 13, 1930 in Greenville. Jerry graduated from Greenville High School in 1948, and on Aug. 24, 1949, in Kentucky, he married the former Ardis J. Robertson.

For over 35 years, Jerry owned and operated an auto body repair shop and retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. He was a founding member of the Flat River Antique Car Club, enjoyed wood working, hunting, and fishing, as well as traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ardis Bower on Jan. 20, 1995; a brother, Jack Bower; and a sister, Betty Copeland.

Surviving are his special love, Patsy Nessen of Greenville; four children, Rusty & Jeanne Bower of Greenville, Bev & Steve Hoisington of Greenville, Terry & Judy Bower of Gowen, and Vicky & Jim Leyrer of Stanton; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Arlene Robertson of Holt; two brothers-in-law, Roger Robertson, and John Copeland, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with burial following at Eureka Township Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Harger, pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate. Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions will be available. Instead of flowers, Jerry would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the Great Lakes Dialysis Center.
