Ms. Jeannine Ann Hemmingsen, age 74, of Greenville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of James & Ruby (Converse) Mertens, she was born on Sept. 19, 1932 in Gratiot County.

After graduating from Greenville High School, she attended cosmetology school and earned her state license. She had owned and operated a beauty salon in Sheridan, and later worked at Cathys in Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James Jimmy Mertens, Jr. Surviving are her son, Bryan John Hemmingsen of Greenville; and special friends and caregivers, Danuta Donna VanCamp, and Patsy Hiatt, both of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with visitation one hour prior to services. The Rev. Dennis Johnson, pastor of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church, will officiate with burial following at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
