Jean Ilene Bailey, age 83, of Six Lakes, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Clarence & Erma (Damey) Meroney, she was born on April 27, 1936 in Ligonier, Indiana.
A compassionate and loving person, Jean found her calling in her vocation as a licensed practical nurse. After working several years in hospitals, she spent the remainder of her career working in nursing homes. Patients often remarked on Jean’s big smile, laughter, and care. She treated all with dignity and respect.
Jean delighted in playing board and card games, often making up her own rules in the middle of a game much to the frustration of those playing with her! Yahtzee was her favorite especially when she actually rolled a Yahtzee or two. A creative person, she spent much time crocheting afghans and other items. She also enjoyed watching the deer and birds from her home in Six Lakes with the piliated woodpecker being her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and three sisters; and a daughter, Brenda Hallgren on December 30, 2003. Survivors include her husband, William R. "Bill" Bailey of Six Lakes; her daughter, the Rev. Melinda Feller of Chilton, Wisconsin; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Donald & Dorothy “Dottie” Meroney of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and Joan Meroney of Watertown, South Dakota.
Honoring her wishes, no services are planned at this time. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Jean's online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit: www.ChristiansenCares.com Arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
