Janet Evyonne Brailey, age 73, of Gowen, passed away on St. Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville after a short illness. The daughter of Beatrice L. & John D. Graham, Sr., she was born on August 14, 1941 in Lansing. A 1960 graduate of Haslett High School, she married Paul Elmer Brailey on August 3, 1961 in East Lansing and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage and raised four children.
During Paul’s military career of almost 26 years as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he and Janet lived across the United States and Janet volunteered her time with the Air Force Family Support groups and was recognized for contributing over 2,000 hours of her own time. After his discharge, they made their home here and Janet had worked as a nurses’ aide at Metron of Belding, Metron of Greenville, and the Laurels of Kent nursing homes. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, George Brailey.
Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Brailey, Sr. of Gowen; their children, Paul E. Brailey, Jr. of Greenville, James & Ember Lynn Brailey of Gowen, Judy & Russell Peer of Texas, and John & Kim Brailey of Sheridan; two sisters, Judy & Billy Murray, and Lois & Billy Miller; a brother, Richard Graham; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, and from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m on Thursday. The Rev. Father Michael Cilibraise will preside and burial will take place privately at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek. Envelopes for memorial contributions to help with Janet’s final expenses will be available at the funeral home and the church.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife, mother, grandmother, etc. Didn’t know her but met Paul Sr at the ED the day she came in and Paul Jr at church, along with Rabecaa. Please know she is in a heavenly place with no pain any longer. Prayers are with you.

I am sorry to hear about your wife, mother and grandmother words cannot take her place in your hearts. I didn’t know Janet as well as I know her son Paul, but after reading her life story she was a very liked and giving person. She is with God now and that makes her life on earth easier to understand.
