Jane Irene Scholten, age 78, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday morning, March 9, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice.  The daughter of Leonard James & Ruby Esther (Dunkle) Preston, she was born on August 20, 1937 in Clare County and grew up in Marion, where she graduated high school.

In addition to raising four children, Jane also worked at the former Ore-Ida plant in Greenville, retired from General Motors in Wyoming, and in retirement kept busy working at K-Mart.  Jane enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and knitting and also participated in many fellowship activities, but found her greatest joy in spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  two sons, Darwin James Scholten on May 20, 2015, Donald Dean Scholten on January 4, 2016;  a granddaughter, Danielle Dee "Dani"  Scholten on October 23, 2013;  and a great granddaughter, Elaina Isenhoff.

Surviving are two children, Tammy & Roy Doolittle of Greenville, and Darrell & Annie Scholten of Williamston;  a daughter-in-law, Jan Scholten of Sheridan;  a brother, Myron & Jean Preston of Georgia;  seventeen grandchildren;  twenty-four great grandchildren;  one great-great grandson;  and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Greenville Community Church, 6596 S. Vining Road, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.    The Rev. Joel Heron, lead pastor of Greenville Community Church, will officiate and a time of food and fellowship will follow the ceremony in the church hall.  Burial at Sidney Township Cemetery will take place privately.

Instead of flowers, Jane would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.  Envelopes will be available at the church.  To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Jane's online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit:  Arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
