James L. Verrett, age 55, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Greenville under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice.  The son of Racy & Thelma June (Cribbs) Verrett, he was born on April 4, 1961 in Newberry. 

On March 11, 2009, in Ionia, he married the former Rose Marie Wright.  James loved traveling, fishing, and spending time in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Surviving are his wife, Rose Verrett;  their children, Jennifer Glenn of Gowen, Holly Verrett of New York, Crystal Story of Alto, Dylan Story of Gowen, and Carl Story of Fenwick;  three grandchildren;  a brother, Carl Verrett of Newberry;  siblings-in-law, Margaret & Fred Gregory of Ionia, and Daniel & Kelly Calkins of Gowen;  and several nieces and nephews.
