James Gregory Crandell, age 66, of Montrose, passed away early Thursday morning, September 5, 2019 at his daughter's home in Newaygo under the loving care of his daughter and Hospice of Michigan.

The son of Gerald Edgar & Mildred Onalee (Fuller) Crandell, he was born on May 30, 1953 in Flint, where he worked at General Motors retiring after 33 years of service. James was a dedicated and loving father. He enjoyed the outdoors, either gardening, taking boat rides to the island, chopping wood or fishing, that's what made him happy. James was also a woodcarver, with an incredible talent. He could make or hand carve anything and enjoyed giving his creations away.

Surviving are his children, Jamie Crandell & Brian Jones of Newaygo;  Jesse Crandell & Alicia of Munfordville, Kentucky;  three sisters, Debbie Arnold,  Sandy Crandell-Mohr, and Janet Crandell;  and several nieces and nephews.

Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of his life party will be planned for a later date. To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign James' online guest book, or to share a favorite memory, please visit:  www.ChristiansenCares.com

Arrangements were entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
