James Ernest Shaw, age 65, of Grand Rapids, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Born in Greenville on February 19, 1949, he was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Staff Sgt. while serving with the U.S. Air Force.

Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue N.E., Grand Rapids, with Chaplain Bruce Kalish officiating. Military honors, rendered by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard, will conclude the ceremony and private interment will follow.
