Mr. Jack Nelson Jewell, age 76, of Belding, passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2006 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. The son of Clare Nelson & Pauline (Belding) Jewell, he was born on Nov. 21, 1929 at his parents farm near Belding. On Sept. 17, 1952, in Belding, he married Laura B. Orvis. For 43 years, Jack worked as a millwright at Extruded Metals in Belding and enjoyed fishing. Around the house he was a true jack of all trades who was talented at carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work…. skills he taught all his children.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Laura Jewell of Belding; their children, Jim Jewell of Millersburg, Indiana, Royal & Sharon Jewell of Trufant, Hoyte & Karen Jewell of Millersburg, Indiana, Earl Nelson and Tessie Jewell of Belding, and Cindy & Robert Green of Belding; seven brothers and sisters, Ronald & Florette Jewell, Bernard & Karen Jewell, Narva & Forrest Champlin, Judy & Terry Sears, Joan & Gordon Hunt, Sandy & Donald Tromp, and Lois & Jim Kinney; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn & David Buffum and Jeanette & Jim Hulliberger; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Elder Varian Bauman of the Greenville Community of Christ Church will officiate. As requested, cremation will follow the service at Myrtle Park Crematorium, Rockford. Visitation is Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Envelopes for memorial contributions to either VNA-Hospice or the Community of Christ Church will be available at the funeral home.
