Jasper Lee Jack Heintzelman, age 62, of Newaygo, formerly of Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Everyones motto, Just ask Jack, hed fix or figure out anything. Jack was employed by Wyoming Public Schools as a maintenance mechanic for 30 years. His favorite pastimes were being in the garage, teasing and nicknaming his grandkids, and watching NASCAR. Jack was also known for his practical jokes and one-liners. His strongest assets consisted of having a strong German will, being a fighter, and being dependable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Ilene Heintzelman; and two grandsons, Brandon and Jared. Surviving are his wife, best friend, and No. 1 nurse of nearly 32 years, Marie Kathleen Grami Heintzelman; his loving daughters, Kristen & Shawn Hindenach of White Cloud, Colleen Redmond of Grand Rapids, and Karri Redmond of Newaygo; and his forever sons-in-law (in heart), Robert, Kurt, Todd, and Don. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Eric, Samantha, Zachary, Destiny, Jordan, Jasmine, Logan, and never forgotten by Raven. Papa Jack will be missed dearly by Hope, Grace, and Faith. He was Grandpa Jack to many other extended grandchildren. Also surviving are his best brother and sis, Dave & Cynthia Heintzelman of White Cloud; baby sister, Vera & Gary Carter of Grand Rapids; special niece, Heidi, and little buddy, Caleb Lee; brothers-in-law, Marty and Tim. Loved by many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his devoted pets, Big Jake and Bark-a-Lounger Brutus.
Many thanks to all the friends that are always there with kind words and helping hands, Uncle Paul, Shawn, Robert, Kurt, Geno, Joey, Steven, Mark, Roger, Tony, Bud, and Pastor. Jack was a man of few words but when he liked you, he liked you. The family extends their special thanks to the many nurses and doctors involved in Jacks care and treatments, as well as Hospice of Michigan (especially to Jackie, Deb, Tami, Belinda, & Deb).
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church, 701 S. Evergreen (M-37), White Cloud, with Pastor Richard Hoogerhyde officiating. A luncheon will follow. Instead of flowers, Jack would have appreciated contributions to either Christ Lutheran LLF or Hospice of Michigan (Big Rapids Office).
