Ida Rittersdorf, age 86, of Lincoln Lake, Gowen, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 1, 2005 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Long Term Care Unit, Greenville. The daughter of Peter & Josephine (Belsito) Giglio, she was born on May 25, 1919 in Pontiac. After graduating from Greenville High School, Ida worked in the office at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. On Sept. 6, 1947, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville, she married Carl M. Rittersdorf. Over the years Ida had also worked at J.C. Penny and retired as the office manager for Doug Jenks State Farm Insurance agency in Belding. She was an active member of St. Margarets Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and as a member of the Altar society. Ida was devoted to her family and loved to cook, travel, and read. She was also a member of the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 Ladies Auxiliary in Sheridan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and a sister, baby Frank, Angelene, Alfred, George, John, and William; a brother-in-law, Raymond Povolo; and a sister-in-law, Florence Rittersdorf. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Carl Rittersdorf; five sisters and a brother, Sister Dorothy Giglio, O.P., of Marywood Convent in Grand Rapids, Frank Giglio of Greenville, Betty Povolo, Mary R. Giglio, both of Traverse City, Angela M. Giglio, and Arlene Giglio, both of Greenville; a brother-in-law, John Rittersdorf of Detroit; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and her special canine companion, Dutch.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ida will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 from St. Margarets Catholic Church, 10195 16 Mile Rd., 1/4 mile west of Harvard Ave., with Father Phil Salmonowicz officiating. Private interment will be in St. Margarets Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with a Rosary prayer service beginning at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Margarets Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
