Howard M Eastman, 79, of Sunfield, Michigan passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at home under the care of Sparrow Hospice with his wife at his side.
The son of Lennis and Helen (Everett) Eastman, he was born February 28, 1939 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Howard joined the Air Force in October 1959. Over the next several years, he was stationed in several different stateside locations, Newfoundland and Woomera, South Australia. He retired on September 30, 1980 in Denver, CO as a Master Sergeant after serving 21 years. After retirement, he worked for Aerojet Corporation for 12 years. Finally retiring in Sunfield, MI in 1991.
In his younger years, he loved to go fishing in every type of environment including ice fishing when he was stationed in Duluth, Minnesota. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to help out other people and became a member of the Lion’s Club where he volunteered his time helping the community.
Preceding him in death are his dad, Lennis Eastman; mother, Helen Eastman, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eastman; Brother, David Eastman; Children, Tim Eastman, Tina (Mike) Brushel, and Kim Eastman; Step Children, Jerry (Chris) Eastman, Mark Eastman and Tami (Cory) Jones; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in Howard’s name.
Committal services with full military honors will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, 49012.
