Harry L. Silverthorne, age 92, of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, September 8, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The son of Hugh D. & Lillian Josephine (Sass) Silverthorne, he was born on April 5, 1927 in Greenville.
As a youth Harry had been a Golden Gloves boxer, later worked as a mechanic at Jeff Branch Motor Sales, and retired from Federal Mogul Corporation. He was a long time member of the East Congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greenville. Harry enjoyed baseball, watching television, and feeding the squirrels.
On July 1, 1972, in Greenville, he married the former Patricia Ann Wert and together they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage until Patricia passed away on January 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred W. Silverthorne on October 4, 2001; an infant brother, Russell Silverthorne; three sisters, Frances Merren, Dorothy Williams, and Donna Jean Krampe; and two brothers, Hugh D. "Bud" Silverthorne, Jr., and Robert E. Silverthorne.
Surviving are three sons, Steven & Joette Silverthorne of Florida, David & Lillian Silverthorne of Connecticut, and Jeff Silverthorne of Florida; sixteen grandchildren, including Kaden Silverthorne, with whom he enjoyed a special bond until the day he died; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a step-son, Jeff Chase of Greenville; a brother, Ethan Silverthorne of Greenville; two sisters, Marjorie Ingersoll and Virginia Lincoln, all of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation with the family is from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 915 Industrial Park Drive (at the corner of M-57 East), Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

I dont recall any special memories of Harry.-á But I do see the qualities he passed down to his family and qualities left for his brothers and sisters of the same faith.-á Persistence.-á Strength.-á Devotion.-á Loyalty.-á -áAlthough gone from this earthly realm, his examples left for us will not soon depart.-á Rest in peace Harry.
