Our family and many friends said goodbye to a very kind, hard-working and courageous man this past Sunday, July 21st, 2019. George Junior Ellison passed away peacefully in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his wife Janice and so many loved ones by his side. He was 75, George is survived by his wife Janice, his mother and father by marriage Paul and Betty Kooyers, his siblings Ed & Robin Ellison, Steve & Christine Ellison, Ena Ellison, Richard & Kjersti Anthony, John & Nancy DeVogel, William Ball, Wayne Ball, Michelle Ball, and Sharon Ball. Also his children Michael & Dawn Ellison, Karen Ellison, Brian Ellison, and so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those that were close to George knew that he was a thoughtful and caring man who worked hard and loved chess. He raised his children with words of encouragement and guidance to do their best and had faith that they’d succeed in life. He was generous yet simple and didn’t feel the need to indulge in luxuries. During his battle with cancer and other illnesses that undoubtedly caused his body pain he always preserved the kindness he was known for towards his loved ones. For years he maintained the courage and strength needed to fight and for all these great qualities that were so much a part of his personality, he will forever be a part of us and our memories as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. You’ve touched our lives so greatly and will be missed so much.
