On Tuesday, July 30, 2019 George Goorhouse, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at age 78.  George was born on November 29, 1940 in Byron center, Michigan to Garret and Hazel Goorhouse.

When George wasn’t spending time with family he could be found at his favorite spots playing cards and swapping old fishing stories with friends. George attended Woodward Baptist Church and enjoyed the services immensely.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Pam; father, Garrit; mother, Hazel; and siblings, Glen, Warren, Tom, Wayne, Beatrice, Cecil and Helen.

He is survived by his three children, Garret (Teresa), Geana, and Geta (Kevin); eight grandchildren, Gary, Kyle, Nick, Lindsey (Michael), Kayla (Ben), Katelyn (Guy), Gavin and Hazel, seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Devon, Evan, Kailynn, Henry, Dean and Olive; brother, Dale; many step-children, grand-children and great-grand children.

A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday August 24, 2019, at Wayland VFW, 735 S Main St, Wayland, MI 49348, from 12:00 p.m. until 3 p.m.

I am so sorry to hear of uncle George’s passing. I enjoyed the times I had hearing his stories, sharing his recipes and most of all the laughter he brought when he entered the room. I am so thankful that he shared with me the time he committed his life to the Lord. I have the assurance that we will spend eternity together and for that, I’m truly grateful.
