George Coy, age 84, of Portage, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek.

The son of Andrew Boyd & Sylvia Etta (Hoyt) Coy, he was born on October 19, 1927 in Dowagiac.

George was a proud veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the U.S. Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coy. Survivors include his children, Patricia Suhusky, George A. Coy, Margaret Springer, and Catherine Elkins.

Committal services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.Elkins.
