Frederick Joseph Scotty Mooney, age 73, of Hudsonville returned to our Lord, peacefully with his beloved son, Michael, at his side on Sunday, December 6 2009.
Scotty was born in Rutherglen, Scotland in 1936 and immigrated after World War II with his brothers; Jim, Eddie, Jack and his sisters; Cathy, May, And Ella to Port Colbourne Canada.
He enjoyed a full life of adventure and service to his fellow man, beginning with his enlistment in the United States Air Force in 1956. Scotty was a decorated combat veteran having served tours in Vietnam and Europe, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant, culminating in his retirement after 22 years of honorable service to his adopted country in 1978.
Scotty continued to serve our Lord and others by earning his Masters Degree in clinical social work and establishing his practice as a licensed social worker in California and Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his brother Jim and his two sisters Cathy and May and his memory will live on with his son, Michael, daughter-in-law Cathy, Brothers Eddie and Jack, Sister Ella and his former spouse and life long friend, Pat Mooney.
As were his wishes, Scotty was cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Jenison.
He will be laid to rest in the familys plot in Port Colbourne at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Holy Redeemer Church or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, who took such great care of our loved one in his final days.
