Francis Daniel Jones, age 85, of White Cloud, formerly of Greenville, passed away Monday morning, February 18, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The son of Emerald L. & Irene Alfreda (Hansen) Jones, he was born on July 31, 1933 in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville Senior High School. He then proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and while home on leave he married Doris Mae Yanke on October 16, 1953 in Amble. Together, he and Doris raised three children and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.
Following his discharge, he earned his business degree from Davenport Institute and worked in accounting for many years at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, and then as comptroller at Washex, a division of White Consolidated Industries, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Jones on March 21, 2004; a brother, Carlton Jones; and a sister, Charlotte Tisdel. Surviving his children, Suzan Wilburn of White Cloud, Janet & Donald Medler of Grant, and Roger & Cathy Jones of Belding; his grandchildren, John & Jeni Holland, Shonna & Richard Shea, Jennifer & Jason Oliver, Donnie Medler, Matthew & Stephanie Jones, Danyelle & Jeremy Deeren, and Stacey & Jeff Vaughn; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at New Life United Methodist Church, 6584 W. Howard City-Edmore, Six Lakes (just east of Lakeview on Highway M-46), where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and final interment will take privately at Amble Cemetery.
