Frances M. Merren, age 98, of Greenville, passed away Christmas morning, Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Hugh & Lillian (Sass) Silverthorne, she was born on December 2, 1914 in Greenville.
On June 6, 1935, in Greenville, she married Milton B. Merren and together they raised nine children and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing on January 9, 1981. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Bud Silverthorne and Robert Silverthorne; two sisters, Donna Krampe and Dorothy Williams; a daughter-in-law, Diane A. Merren; two sons-in-law, Cid Jasso and Lewis Barnes; two grandsons, Bernie Merren and Tom Keeler; a granddaughter, Kristina Anaka; a brother-in-law, Carl Ingersoll; and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Silverthorne and Virginia Silverthorne.
Surviving are her children, Milton B. Bud Merren, Jr. of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Joan & Dale Keeler, Terry & Evelyn Merren, all of Greenville, Marc & Colleen Merren of Belding, Margaret Barnes of Sheridan, Dave Merren of Saugatuck, Mike & Linda Merren, Carol Jasso, and Brian Merren, all of Greenville; over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two sisters; Virginia & Robert Lincoln, and Marjorie Ingersoll; and two brothers, Harry Silverthorne and Ethan Silverthorne, all of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Instead of flowers, Frances would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Spectrum Health Hospice.
