Mrs. Florence V. Switzer, age 77, of Spencer Township, passed away Saturday evening, March 4, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. One of 17 children, she was born on March 6, 1928 in Belding to Silas Edward & Mary (Martin) Thompson.

For many years, Florence worked as a seamstress at Jolly Kids in Belding and at Wolverine World Wide in Rockford. She had also worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. Florence enjoyed cooking, was one of Elvis Presleys biggest fans, and attended Spencer Mills Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

After almost 30 years of love and companionship, she married her soulmate, Glenn H. Switzer on April 24, 1993. He passed away on July 5, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ted Welch; and fifteen brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Silas & Nancy Thompson of Gowen; four step-children, Janet & Jim Enbody of Gowen, Pam Devereaux, Glenn Switzer, Jr., both of Greenville, and Laura & Roland Gus Worthington of Gowen; two special nieces and a nephew, Linda Nichols of Blanchard, Phillip Thompson of Gowen, and MaryLou Densmore of Gowen; many, many nieces and nephews; siblings-in-law, Shirley & Max VanNatter of Sparta, Ruth Switzer of Rockford, and Everett Walton of Gowen; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Spencer Mills Church, 12710 17 Mile Road off of Lincoln Lake Ave., Gowen, with Pastor Frank Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Mills Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville.
