I am so glad that Chris was there in the final moments and was able to convey to Faye Darlene’s and my loving thoughts sent by phone from Atlanta; and so glad she was able to muster a response. Here is the message I brought back to the loved ones in Atlanta: “The officiating Pastor at Aunt Faye’s funeral service buried her with a crown of glory beyond Mother Theresa.” And, all who knew her well knew well that the thoughts were dictated by reality. Faye loved me from the day of my birth (she was two then) and we carried many happy memories of childhood. I have lost the last link to childhood. It was a beautiful childhood in an America never to be seen again.

Faye was a wonderful sister-in-law and friend. She knew how to overcome difficult circumstances, was generous beyond words, and was an example of what it means to trust in God and serve others. Although our family was miles apart and visits infrequent, our children all felt connected to Faye – she helped make that happen. We will all miss her.

Grandma you held a special place in every ones heart that knew you. As a child I loved to snuggle in bed with you and watch cartoons, as a teenager you provided a home for our family though some very tough times, as a young woman you always supported all of my dreams no matter how ridiculous they were and always bragged to all your friends about how smart I was, and as a mother the happiness I saw in your face every time you saw my children made my day. You will never be forgotten and we will be reminded of your love every single day because you made sure you wrapped us in it everyday you could. I miss you more than ever, your loving grand daughter and my family
