Evelyn May Ragan, age 94, of Edmore, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 6, 2005 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Campus, Greenville. The daughter of Sam & Bessie (Knight) Dakin, she was born on May 29, 1911 in Stanton. Evelyn was a graduate of the old Stanton Agricultural High School and had worked at the Curtis Hardware store in Edmore as a bookkeeper and clerk, while her husband managed the store. She was an avid reader, and also enjoyed playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Cranston Ragan; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold & Leta Dakin, and Howard & Rose Dakin. Surviving are three children, Richard & Wilma Ragan of Greenville, Robert A. & Jeanette Ragan of Edmore, and Carol Dakin of Greenville; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special cousins, Lillian Hansen, and John & Rachel Dakin; and several nieces and nephews.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services were held Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, 2005 at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore. The Rev. Eugene Kooi, pastor of the Entrican Bible Church, officiated. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Evelyn are suggested to the Paralyzed Veterans of America. The Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is serving the family and was entrusted with the arrangements. www.christiansen-fh.com
