Eugene Duane Croad, age 90, of Tubbs Lake, Barryton, formerly of Greenville, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 16, 2018 at his son's home at Bass Lake under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of John & Ruth (Porter) Croad, he was born on May 8, 1928 in Gratiot County. 

On May 9, 1953 in Middleton, he married Violet Marie Stolz and together they enjoyed 56 years of marriage,  raised six children, and made their home in Greenville while Eugene worked as a mechanic for the City of Greenville.  In retirement, he and Marie made their cottage at Tubbs Lake their permanent home where he enjoyed tinkering in the garage, projects around the house, and fishing and boating on Tubbs Lake.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Croad on February 7, 2010; and two sons, Neil Croad and Richard Croad. 

Surviving are his children: Gary & Susan Croad of Rudyard, Duane & Jaci Croad of Bass Lake, Robert Croad of Gowen, and Susan & Doug Huffman of Wyoming;  a brother, Jack Croad of Crystal;  twenty-two grandchildren;  thirty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is from 12-1 p.m. on Sunday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Honoring his  wishes, cremation has taken place.
