    Talking to Grief

Ah, Grief, I should not treat you
    like a homeless dog
who comes to the back door
for a crust, for a meatless bone.
    I should trust you.

    I should coax you
into the house and give you
    your own corner,
a worn mat to lie on,
    your own water dish.

You think I don’t know you’ve been living
    under my porch.
You long for your real place to be readied
    before winter comes. You need
    your name,
your collar and tag. You need
the right to warn off intruders,
    to consider
    my house your own
    and me your person
    and yourself
    my own dog.

    – Denise Levertov

Sending you love and strength in your time of sorrow.

My thoughts and prayers go out to one of my longest known family of friends. She will be missed, never forgotten and seen again one day. At that time we can all share the memories and be pestered by Carl B. SR. together.

My deepest sympathy is with you and your family. I haven’t seen you in many years and miss you all very much. I have great memories of sleepovers with Teraesa when we were teenagers. We would call her Mo. She made the best Sunday suppers (which we usually had for breakfast). I first learned to mix mashed potatoes with corn at your house and I still do that to this day. I am sorry I haven’t stayed in touch more. My love and prayers are with you.
    Love, Theresa

My thoughts and prayers are with the McCune family at this time. Though we have grown apart and lost touch, I have not lost the memories of growing up in Dorr, spending time at the McCune’s home. Erika always welcomed us and treated us like we were part of the family, I have so many fond memories of time with the family. I will cherish these memories always.
May God’s blessing be with the family. May you find peace and comfort.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit – Psalm 34:18
