Hi Son, Two years are gone, but you’ll never be gone from our hearts. Friends have been so kind & have brought with them sweet memories to share of times with you.
We spent Saturday, the day you left us at a party to meet a new baby. Matthew was born seven days earlier then you in May. As I held him sweet memories of you floated in & out of my mind. He too is a big baby, and a little cuddly sweetheart.
No one can ever fill your shoes, but he was the comforting balm that soothed some of the pain of yet another year spent without you to hold.
We do hold unto you in our hearts always & miss you dearly. We do hope you had a wonderful day celebrating your home coming with our Lord as that’s why we’re put here on earth.
You’ve already had the best gift of all meeting Him. Although we’d never have wished your life to have been so short, we’re glad you’re safe in the arms of our Maker.
    Hugs, Dad & Mom

Merry Christmas Eric, It’s our second Christmas without you. We know you’re celebrating with Jesus and want you to know that we’re happy for you. Someday not to far away, as we’ve learned life is short, we hope to join you. It’s got to be the most beautiful birthday celebration you’ve ever seen. So many people in life seem to forget the real meaning of Christmas. Without the birth of our Lord, we’d never have the chance to be where you are right now. Dad & I are sad for ourselves as we can’t have you here to hug, but we know you’re in the most Wonderful Place. We’re sending you our love. Dad & Mom xo xo

Hi Honey, It’s been a long time since we felt that big teddy bear hug of yours! Although, we still feel your presence. You’d have been so proud of us for celebrating you birthday! We had pizza & then let go of balloons.(Each of us left our love on those balloons.) As each of the kids released them they formed a cross, bringing smiles & tears. On the day you died Dad & I had a mass said for you. As we went to leave church a beautiful butterfly flew over us, we had to smile. Your sisters, recieved many things from friends & we cleaned out our closets, but couldn’t bring ourselves to sell any of your things, wow, a huge sale. Really helped with your endowment. We received the final paperwork that day. It felt strange signing & dating them on the actual day you went Home. We felt you were with all of us and felt comforted. Our 40th was just the way you’d wanted it to be,it brought us incredible joy. Dad even agreed to the blessing of our vows & after mass a beautiful ‘Monarch’ butterfly flew over us. We attended your Custom Profile picnic this year, honored to be asked. The proceeds from the dunking tank went towards your scholarship! Dad & I both missed feeling sorry for me, I stood where kids do! They’ve been wonderful to us they loved you working with them. Our hearts ache, but we know you’re HOME. Our love forever, Dad & Mom Andres

Little brother, God gave me a gift 27 years ago, and mom and dad named him, “Eric”. The position of big sister was amazing. You’re amazing. I have so few memories from my childhood that don’t include you. You made me so proud…so happy…okay sometimes annoyed (you always loved honesty). Thank you for being my brother, my friend, my comedian, my protector, and a great uncle to my kids. Rest in God’s arms tonight..I love you… Andi PS. Donatello is still better than Michaelangelo…brains kick jokes…finally the last word!

Oh Eric, It’s been a very hard time without you here cracking your jokes to help us. We’re glad that you’ll never have to know the pain of loss in the way your dad & I have. Your Meagan, brother, sisters, nephews & nieces all miss and our hurting without you here. We’ll all see you again one day, but as Annette put it, “If Uncle Eric is on this plain & we’re on this plain, “Why can’t we just bring them closer together so we can see him!” We love you, son.

My heart and prayers go out to the Andres family. I went to school with Eric, and worked with him at Kmart. I’ve lost touch with him in recent years, and regret it now more than ever. The craziest memory I have with Eric happened in high school. We were driving around in his van, Eric driving and me recording with a camcorder from JVP class. Eric decided to stop by and pick up a hitchhiker. We picked him up near veterans park, and dropped him off at Kmart. I have no idea if Eric did it out of the kindness of his heart or just something crazy for me to record, but it’s a good memory. I still have the tape; the hitchhiker died several years ago and now with Eric’s passing it’s a tragic reminder how truly precious and uncertain life can be. Eric, you will be missed.

Dear Eric, Children are suppose to outlive their own parents, and we wish you had. We were willing to give our life’s for you or anyone of our children. It wasn’t are decision but God’s. So we’re putting all our faith in Him right now. Although, it’s terrible to lose you Honey, our faith in our Saviour has been a great comfort. We’ll be with you again when He calls for us. Until then we’ll forever hold you in our hearts. Our unconditional Love, Dad & Mom

Eric, you were the sparkle in my daughters eyes. After only knowing you a short time, I knew why she lit up so much when you were around. Your sense of humor was fantastic and you always tried to act like such a tough guy with your weight lifting and stuff. I liked listening to you telling stories and acting them out with different voices and mannerisms. You never ceased to entertain us! The best times were when you two were over and we would grill steaks with mushrooms and drink a cold beer or two with dinner. Or, playing guitar hero while you beat on the drums and Meagan “tried” to sing in the living room. I always admired the way you worked and went to school…sometimes working two jobs. You were a hard worker and were willing to sacrifice for what you wanted. As a father of three girls…all I could ever ask for was a good man that would treat my daughter right and work hard. Eric, you filled my wish! I loved you like the son I never had! You have touched our lives in a way that you will never be forgotten, and when I’m gone I hope people can say that about me!

Eric was a great guy. I worked with him at GVSU. He generously helped me with my research and I enjoyed hanging out with him. He brought a lot of fun to the biology department and we will all miss him. His loss is a big loss to GVSU. I have a heavy heart.

    Ami Miller

I had the privilege of attending high school with Eric and am blessed to be able to call him a friend. He was always the goofball, sitting behind me in English classes making jokes or throwing things in my hair. In science class, being one of the group of guys who always took the lab experiments a little too far. Running into each other at various shopping centers in Greenville, always stopping to chat. When I think about HS times one of the first things I remember is when someone made a woody doll and put black felt under its shirt and gave it to Eric. It looked exactly like him. I am terribly sad I never got a chance to catch up with him the past few years. My heart goes out to his family, and to Meagan. What a shame such a kind heart should be taken from this world so early. Rest in peace my friend.

Eric was a very proud, outgoing, inspiring person. If he wanted something he would work his hardest for it and when he got it he was very proud of his achievements. Whenever Eric was around everyone was smiling. Eric had a great personality, always made people laugh. Knowing Eric for seven years made him like a brother to me. I’m very sorry for your loss and my family and I will be here for you as much as we can! =] We Love you Eric, forever and always!

Eric,to see the smile you put on Meagans face every time you walked into the room and the joy you put in her heart meant a lot for a mother to see. For the joy of having you in our life as a son we never had and all your goofball things you did to make everyone laugh I am glad for the time we had with you. You will be missed and never forgotten.

I have known Eric longer than I’ve known anyone in our grade. We went to Kindergarten together at St. Jo’s in Belding. Even though Eric and I weren’t close friends in high school I always felt a connection with him because of how long we’d known eachother. We always stopped and chatted when I saw him from time to time after high school, more recently at Grand Valley.
In kindergarten, Eric and I shared a table. When we were learning to count to 100, we were supposed to write the #’s 1-100. We decided to impress sister mary birtha by going past 100. We wrote 1001, 1002, … We thought we were pretty big stuff! Sister Mary Birtha didn’t though. She yelled at us. But when she walked away we high fived.
I also remember that on the snack when someone brought pretzels, a few kids started pretending they were cigarettes. Eric was the first one to cross his pretzels across eachother in an X and say “no smoking!” It caught on, and soon the whole class was chanting “no smoking” through crossed pretzels.
A last one I think is funny is that one Halloween that year, Eric dressed up as a priest and I dressed up as santa claus. everyone else was something normal. several people took pictures of eric and I together because of our unique costumes.
Anyway, thanks for being a kindergarten rebel with me, Eric, and for ending up a pretty cool guy later, too.

My heart aches for you guys, Eric had the best sense of humor and personality. A very special man, I know he will be painfully missed. But, I smile when I think of him and I am glad I had the honor of knowing him for the Joy and Love he gave Meagan, friends and family. You will be missed Eric and never forgotten.

Mary and Sam and all of the family. We are so very sorry for everything you are going through. We remember our visits when you lived in South Carolina and how Eric planted trees with Grandpa. He found a green rock and gave it to Gary and we do still have it. Remember all of the good times with him. I know he will be missed terribly.

    Denise

My deepest sympathy – to lose a loved one suddenly is painful. May you find comfort in knowing God is aware of the tears you are shedding – Psalms 56:8 “Do put my tears in your skin bottle. Are they not in your book?”

    Leslie Anne Wood

    Sam & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Even though I did not know Eric, I have heard him spoken of fondly. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain you are going through and the emptiness in your heart. However, I totally believe that God is in control of our lives and has a plan for each one of us. His plan for Eric was to call him home at this time. Try to focus on the good memories … his smile, learning to ride his bicycle, his growing into a young man. If you keep these memories in your heart, he will never be far from you. Leslie Anne Wood
